Lead Project Engineer, ARCO Products Co., Los Angeles, CA 1995 – 1997
ARCO had a 22 acre terminl terminal located on Naragansette Bay, RI at Kettle Point. My six-year involvement included the removal of all structures on site and a complete remediation of on-site soils. Because the adjacent property also had petroleum contamination in the ground water (after soils were excavated and remediated), on-site rock was used to back fill below the water table to protect clean soils from re-contamination. Soils were remediated with land farming techniques using the the old tank farm areas.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management issued a closure letter for this site after remediation was completed. The site is now slated for redevelopment by the Waterfront Redevelopment District.
